A Trip to the National Game Park!

Written by Nancy and Zilpah, HHFL’s Tiny Tots teachers

Saturday April 30th was not an ordinary day for the younger kids. It was a day they eagerly awaited and this time around, it was their day out at the National Game Park! The children were visiting the Animals orphanage, and for the Tiny Tots, it was their very first time to see live wild animals!!

It was so interesting for the kids to meet the animals which they had only heard about or seen in pictures. At the project, kids have their houses named after some animals namely; Tiger, Lion, Cheetah, Fox, Hyena, and Leopard. It was fun and interesting for the kids to identify these animals at the orphanage.

The kids had a good time viewing one animal after the other in their gauges. Some of the Tiny Tots clung to their teachers in fear and amazement at the sight of some animals, like the Cheetah who got agitated from time to time, leaping up and down as it saw crowds of people! Other animals that we saw included the Warthog, Tortoise, Lion, Leopard, Giraffe, Buffalo, Monkeys, and also birds
like the Ostrich and many others.

The next stop was at the Safari Nature Walk, a section where animals are in their natural habitat and not in gauges like at the orphanage. Here they met the Wildebeest, Rhino, Hippo, Crocodile, Hyena, Buffalo, tortoises and more monkeys hoping from tree to tree.

When it was time to go back home late in the afternoon, the kids desired to have more time at the park! They loved every minute of it.
