An experience of a lifetime!

An experience of a lifetime!

Steve is another one of our HHFL interns who’s just finished up an apprenticeship with Rekero Camp in the Masai Mara. Below is Steve’s most recent update where he reflects on all that he has taken away from this internship experience. Enjoy!

I am now back in HHFL not as the same person as I left but i feel like a different person because of the skills that i acquired from Rekero camp.

I was in the Mess department where I was training as a waiter and I now know how to welcome visitors, to set  a table for breakfast, lunch, dinner, how to serve drinks, how to clear a table and also different types of meals including their ingredients because as i serve the food I have to tell what is in it.  Also types of red and white wines where they are produced from. I also learned that white wine should always be cold and some drinks varies with the type of meals being served.

Only smiles for Steve as he enjoys an experience of a lifetime.

We closed the camp on 1st of April I didn’t wish to come but there was no one to be left in the camp only a few who are now  repairing the roads . I talked to Rekero manager Marian Katheni  and she told me that I should go back on may and I left my details Email address and my phone number so as to keep in touch and confirm which date I should report.

I am so interested in acquiring more and more skills.I found that Rekero Camp is even a better place than I thought.

The updates we receive from our HHFL interns are precious and the experience they gain is invaluable. You can help us provide more of these opportunities by clicking here.
